Jared’s Thoughts

Before I had dragged Jared to the Pride Parade I had suggested that he bring his camera along, not only to get more pictures for my enjoyment, but primarily to document his perspective of the event. I suggested that he write a blog post about his first Pride Parade. This would give me a more comprehensive understanding of his thoughts and feelings on being there, among a bunch of gay people that may or may not reinforce some stereotypes that he may still hold. I could also use his blog post to gauge his comfort level in being there.
He had agreed that it was a good idea to write about the experience also knowing that his family may one day read about his having gone and it would help aid him in coming out as, not a gay man, but as a friend and supporter of a gay man. A big step for the son of Mormon family.

He did take some pictures at the parade. He estimates that he took less than half as many as I took, but I pretty much tried to get pictures of everything. Hopefully he got pictures of things that piqued his interest in some way; something that he’ll want to talk about in his blog.

He hasn’t gotten around to posting those pictures or to writing the journal post. It’s driving me nuts because I really want to see those pictures and really, really want to read his thoughts.

Anyways, as soon as he gets to writing and uploading I’ll post a link to his journal in mine so that my readers can read the thoughts of a straight former Mormon who attended his first Gay Pride Parade.

Hurry, Jared!
