Holy Jumpin’ José Jalepeño on a Stick!
I really, really hate DHL’s delivery service. They suck much ass!
On May 24th I took a test for a Verizon job and, at the time, their machine for doing the grading was not working so they had to mail out the tests to get graded. We were told that we’d hear back within two weeks. So I waited…
…and waited.
…and waited.
Two weeks came and went, and so did another two weeks. Oh, wait… and another two weeks. So I was getting pissed off and didn’t know who to talk to about it. There’s no direct phone number that I could find for the HR department of that Verizon yard.
I’ve been flagging for the Verizon guys but I’m not a Verizon employee, I work for a contractor. The contractor’s pay is horrible and there are no benefits. I like a lot of the Verizon guys and it would be an easy transition for me to just start working for them. Some of the guys have even talked to the supervisor, asking him to see if he can find out what the results of the test were.
See, I took two tests on that day. One was a basic electronics test, which I qualified on. The other was their Universal Battery Test which they give to all applicants. You can’t even turn in an application or resume until this test is passed. This is the test for which I was waiting to hear the results. Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting… ad nauseum.
Today I go into my apartment manager’s office to drop off some mail that I needed to send out and the manager says, “Oh, David, there’s a package here that I keep forgetting to give to you.” I looked at her all puzzled-like because I wasn’t expecting a package of any sort. Then I look at the return address label and it’s from Verizon. Holy jumpin’ José Jalepeño on a stick! So I hunt for the delivery date to see how long it’s been in the office. It’s dated June 6th.
June 6th… today is July 7th. Now, I’m not sure who all is to blame here. First of all, the package doesn’t have my apartment number on it so they obviously didn’t know which apartment to give it to. However, they had sense enough to go to the manager’s office to drop it off. They could have, or perhaps did, tell him/her which unit I live in. Then Mr. (or Ms.) DHL delivery person could have put a note in my mailbox saying that I have a package. But noooooo… And the apartment managers never bothered to let me know that I had a package. And I’ve been in the office numerous times. Hell, even if I hadn’t gone into the office they have my phone number!
So, is Verizon to blame for not putting my apartment number on the address label? Is DHL to blame for not finding out which apartment and then putting a note on or in my mailbox? Or is the apartment manager to blame for not letting me know about the package sometime last, fucking, month!?
I blame all three, but mostly DHL.
Actually, I just checked the address label again, and they even fucked up the street name. I live on 8th Ave. W, not 8th Ave. SW. Grrr!!!! They’re all to blame!!!!
Anyways, so, the GOOD news is that they sent the packet of application forms, etc., so I can get that ball rolling. And, shit, there are a lot of forms to fill out.
