Christmas So Far…

Posted on | December 24, 2006 | No Comments

My mom came over and spent the day with me, as is tradition for us. Christmas Eve is our Christmas. I gave her a couple of CDs, one of all of the Dolly Parton number ones and another by Martina McBride, I believe. I also gave her a nice blouse/shirt/whatever-it’s-called and some smaller things like a jar of cashews and some chocolate covered cherries. She loved it all.

She bought me a new espresso machine and a coffee grinder. I also got a Hootie & the Blowfish Live in Charleston CD. I wanted their most recent CD but I didn’t realize there was a live version, or I would have specified the studio version. So far, though, the live version isn’t bad at all. She bought me Clerks II, Superman Returns and some candy too.

Ho... ho... ho.

Anyways, we sat down and watched A Christmas Story and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, which are both required viewing at Christmastime. We also watched a couple of shows which I had recorded on the DVR: All I Want for Christmas and a Christmas episode of “The Red Green Show.”

Oh, I almost forgot, my mom also gave me some gift cards! Twenty-five dollars each for Starbucks, AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas. Can’t beat that!

Tomorrow Jared (friend and former roommate) is going to be stopping by with his new wife to bring me my gift from them. Awww… Yeah, I didn’t buy them anything. Last year I got a gift from his, then, fiancée which seemed like an afterthought gift. I just assumed we weren’t exchanging gifts this year, and I really couldn’t afford much this year anyway. I already told him I didn’t buy them anything and he said not to worry about it. So it’s all good.

The two of them got married on Saturday in a rather small ceremony. I haven’t heard how that went yet though. Hopefully it all went well. Though it’s the goof-ups in a wedding ceremony that make it memorable. No one ever tells the story of how everything in their wedding went off without a hitch. The fun stories are the ones where you tell how your drunk uncle fell into the wedding cake or something.

I don’t imagine there are many drunks at a Mormon family wedding…
